SUMMARY of SERVICES

Individual Student Meetings - The school counselor will provide short-term individual sessions or “check-ins” to help students with academic or personal concerns.

 

Group Counseling - The school counselor, through leadership, will provide opportunities for students to help each other grow by working in groups.  Group counseling gives students the opportunity to share ideas about specific issues such as problem solving, career choices, education planning, or peer relationships.

 

Group Guidance - The school counselor will meet with groups to help students learn specific information about themselves, their development, and their success.  Topics can include self-concept, study skills, friendship, health habits, career information, or citizenship.

 

Guidance Curriculum - The school counselor will assist students with personal, social, career, and education development by incorporating learning goals and strategies into daily instruction by classroom teachers. The role of the school counselor is to assist with this curriculum through collaboration with teachers, providing resources or materials, and presenting some activities with teachers in the classroom.

 

Referrals - The school counselor will refer students and families to programs and services available within the school system as well as the community.

 

Consultation - The school counselor will consult with teachers, parents, and other school personnel to plan appropriate services or supports for every student.

 

Coordination - The school counselor will design, implement, and coordinate various programs or services throughout the school to ensure student success and support student needs.
